I was born in 1975. Some stuff happened. Towards the end of 2011, I was asked to write a poker column for Unibet from a complete novice's point of view. This was to be called, "An Idiot's Guide to Poker."I'm still not sure who the idiot was supposed to be in this transaction: Me, the reader, or both of us.
When that column petered out after 88 weeks - I suspect my editor got tired of receiving emails from me with the subject line WHO IS THE IDIOT? - I was taking poker at least semi-seriously and a profitable player. So profitable, it seems, that when another poker column fell in my lap a year or two later for NordicBet, I decided to rather grandly call it, "Notes from a semi-pro."
During the writing of both columns I tried to introduce elements of the Greco-Roman philosophy Stoicism - both as a way of dealing with the inherent swings of poker and the emotional distress it can lead to, and as a way of sounding smarter than I actually am. I am aiming to do the same with this website.
The picture on the right is me. It's an attempt to preserve some sort of anonymity. For now, at least. Neither the hat or sunglasses - or the car I'm pretending to drive - are mine.
